“Uldrik surprised us with his performance. He was even
better during the championship judging than he had been that
earlier morning. He
just kept on going.” The jury inspecting the studbook
stallions (Harrie Draaijer, Louise Hompe and Jan Hendriks)
selected the young stallion Uldrik 457 (Dries 421 x Tsjerk
328P) owned by E.A. Constant as champion of the Stallion
Inspection. Uldrik was bred by R.R. Steenbeek in Haskerhorne.
Reserve champion was Norbert 444. Norbert (Tsjerk 328P x
Hearke 254P) made a very good impression during all his
performances. Time and again, he displayed a beautifully
extended trot with a long moment of suspension. The Van der
Zee family from St. Jacobiparochie, Norbert’s breeders and
owners, were visibly touched by his high placement.
Uldrik and Norbert had to compete with 13 other stallions in
the championship judging. Tymon 456 and Uldrik 457
represented the stallions that completed their Central
Examination in 2009. Anders 451 was the only stallion in the
final class of 13 that had been approved on the basis of an
abbreviated examination. Anders earned his place in the
championship as based on his fine presentation. Norbert 444
and Stendert 447 represented the group of stallions
completing the Central Examination in 2008. Also
participating in the championship judging were Maurus 441,
Maurits 437, Jerke 434 and Jensen 432.
According to the jury, Haitse 425 was as good as ever and
came in first in his class flanked by Gjalt 426.
Beart 411 and Aan 416 topped the large class of stallions
that had been approved on the basis of their offspring.
Wikke 404 and Wobke 403 completed the group of 13 stallions
participating in the championship judging.
After an initial selection, eight stallions gave a repeat
performance. The two stallions ultimately left in the ring
were Uldrik 457 and Norbert 444.
There were also other nice things to see at the Stallion
Inspection. For instance the older studbook stallions where
Rindert 406 and Jasper
366 in
particular stole the show. The talent team presented
themselves in a clinic run by Herman Wientjes. The audience
was on its feet when the Canadian House of the Friesians
gave another performance featuring its two spectacular
chariots.
A touching moment was the tribute to both of the 25-year-old
stallions Jillis 301 and Jakob 302 when they were joined in
the ring by their offspring Abe 346, Aan 416 and Reinder
452, and Olrik 383 and Take 455.
